# Quickstart

> Your first hour: from installing PANDOR to your first raid.

When you land in PANDOR, RHEA gives you her first orders, one at a time. This page follows the same path, with the numbers behind each step.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Get PANDOR">
    Install PANDOR from the Solana dApp Store on your Seeker.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in with your wallet">
    Your wallet asks you to sign a sign-in message. It's not a payment, and it moves nothing.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Claim your planet">
    Pick a quadrant (North-east, North-west, South-east or South-west) and give your world a name of up to 32 characters. Claiming is free, and your wallet signs nothing for it.

    Your species and rarity are rolled at random. Every planet starts at production level 1 and defence level 0, with no troops and 25,000 dust. See [Planets](/planet/planets).

    If your wallet holds a Seeker Genesis Token, your world is guaranteed Rare or better. See [Seeker Genesis](/seeker-genesis).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start your simulation pack">
    Go to **Mine** and tap **Start simulation pack**. It's free and runs for 7 days.

    Your planet makes dust only while a pack runs. When the pack ends, nothing restarts it for you: come back to Mine and tap **Restart simulation pack**. See [Dust](/planet/dust).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Build and train">
    Upgrade the **Dust Reactor** to level 2. It costs 4,000 dust and takes 10 minutes. Each level adds your level-1 production again, so level 2 makes twice as much dust.

    Only one building upgrades at a time. When the Reactor is done, give the **Bastion**, your defence building, its first level: 1,000 dust and 2 minutes 30 seconds. It adds 500 defence to every battle on your planet.

    Training runs alongside building. In the **Hangar**, train a squad of 10 raiders for 2,000 dust. They take about 9 minutes. Your raider's name depends on your species: Falcon on Terra, Skirmisher on Ferox, Wraith on Vex, Harrier on Bastion worlds.

    Troops eat dust every hour, even at home. Ten raiders cost 100 dust an hour. See [Upgrades](/planet/upgrades) and [Fleet](/war/fleet).

    You don't need to collect before you spend. Your pack's dust is already in your total, and every order that spends dust collects your tank first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your first raid">
    On the **Galaxy chart**, your nearest neighbour is marked. You can't see what it holds: only a battle shows that.

    Once your squad has finished training, tap the marked world and choose **Raid**. An attack costs no dust. It leaves about 90 seconds after you order it, and the **War Room** counts it down.

    Within minutes of landing, the battle is fought and a report arrives. If you win, your survivors carry loot home, and it joins your dust when they land. See [Raids](/war/raids).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Join a coalition">
    On the **Coalition deck**, ask to join one. Its Leader approves you. To start your own, you need the Dust Reactor at level 5. See [Coalitions](/war/coalitions).
  </Step>

## Keep your planet safe

<Warning>
  There's no new-player protection. From your first minute, any planet can attack yours.
</Warning>

RHEA defends your planet for free, with every troop at home, whether or not the app is open. Her defence declares your exact garrison for that battle. To make your planet a harder target:

* **Raise your Bastion building.** Each level adds a flat 500 defence, even when nobody is home, and it costs no upkeep.
* **Keep defenders at home.** Every troop at home defends, and defenders do it best: 75 defence each.
* **Collect often.** Raids take from your tank first, and anyone can see what's in it.
* **Keep a pack running.** Upkeep never stops. A planet with troops and no pack slides into debt, and a planet in debt defends at half strength.

See [Defending](/war/raids#defending) for how a battle is decided.
